Also called: Business Object · Entity · Under which object

Definition

The owning entity of decisions, tables, and tasks in the system — project, line, equipment, person, external organization, and so on. Decisions are attached to objects so that ledgers can aggregate.

In detail

An object is the attribution unit of this system, not a textbook concept. Judgments, original tables, and process tasks must ultimately be attached to an object, otherwise they are just isolated records of 'someone calculated once'. Current object types include project, line, equipment, person, external organization, and so on. Creating a project in the project center automatically generates a project object with the same name; the 'Attach to Object' dropdown on tool pages selects it. Objects with the same name are created only once.

Example in practice

The team fills a risk on the risk page, selects 'Example Project' under 'Attach to Object', and the risk enters the example project's risk ledger, visible in the 'Judgments' card on the project detail page; if no object is selected, it stays only in the risk tool's history, and after three months no one can tell which project it belongs to.
