DKN

Definition

A collaborative business platform for engineering communities, where knowledge is shared among Danaher colleagues outside local teams.

In detail

The Danaher Knowledge Network (DKN) is an enterprise collaboration platform for the engineering community, whose core function is to break down knowledge silos in local teams, allowing solutions, best practices, and technical experience to be shared among Danaher colleagues globally. It addresses the issue of knowledge reuse, avoiding different business units repeatedly solving the same problems. Unlike formal training courses or tool cards, DKN focuses more on informal, community-driven knowledge exchange. Its outputs are shared knowledge content, discussion posts, and searchable experience repositories.

Example in practice

When an engineer solves a complex equipment failure at one factory, they can publish the solution to DKN, allowing colleagues at other factories to quickly find a reference when encountering similar problems. This reduces duplicate investigation time and promotes cross-business-unit learning. After using DKN, knowledge is accumulated and disseminated, enhancing the entire organization's technical capability.
