DSS

Definition

A toolkit to help operators improve software development processes based on the core principles of smart manufacturing and agility (including Scrum).

In detail

The Danaher Software System (DSS) is a toolset that applies the core principles of Lean Manufacturing and agile development (including Scrum) to the software development process, helping Operating Companies improve the efficiency and quality of software delivery. It addresses the common process chaos, delivery delays, and quality problems in software development. Unlike generic agile frameworks, DSS incorporates Danaher's lean philosophy, emphasizing the elimination of Muda and continuous improvement. Its outputs are standardized development processes, kanban tools, and Kaizen cases; Lean Software Development (LSD) is a specific methodology within the DSS toolset (to be verified), and the two are not parallel items.

Example in practice

A software team faces long delivery cycles and many defects. After introducing DSS, the team adopts the Scrum framework and applies lean principles to identify and eliminate waste in processes, such as reducing unnecessary documentation and waiting time. Through daily stand-ups and retrospectives, the team continuously improves. Ultimately, delivery cycles shorten and software quality improves.
