Definition

To upgrade the way content is ranked naturally in search engines.

In detail

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving a webpage's ranking in organic search results by adjusting website structure, content quality, and technical configuration. It addresses the question of "how to make it easier for target users to find us," and is part of the customer acquisition stage in digital marketing and growth systems. Unlike paid search (SEM), SEO pursues organic traffic and does not directly pay for clicks. Its outputs typically include keyword strategies, content optimization guides, technical audit reports, and ranking monitoring data.

Example in practice

When a manufacturing company launches a new product line but the official website cannot be found on Baidu or Google for relevant keywords, the marketing team will initiate an SEO project. They first conduct keyword research to identify search terms customers use, then optimize product page titles, descriptions, and content, while also improving website loading speed and mobile adaptation. Three months later, the natural ranking of product keywords enters the first page, bringing stable inquiry traffic and reducing reliance on paid advertising.
