Definition
The point-of-impact form used to land a strategy deployment improvement priority: it specifies the action, owner, due date, status, and impact on the improvement priority and the top-level breakthrough objective (an annual-impact / already-realized-impact pair of columns), driving results and addressing root causes month by month.
In detail
The Action Plan is a form used in Policy Deployment to implement improvement priorities, clarifying actions, responsible persons, deadlines, and status, driving results monthly and addressing root causes. It is the concretization of the "execution" step in the PD cycle, converting goals into trackable tasks. Unlike countermeasure A3 forms, the action plan focuses more on multi-task timeline management. Typical output is a dynamically updated form used for monthly reviews and escalation of abnormalities.
Example in practice
A company's Annual Objective is to reduce inventory by 20%. Policy Deployment breaks out Improvement Priorities and formulates an Action Plan: weekly slow-moving material counts, optimized purchase batches, and Kanban pull implementation. Each action has an owner and a deadline, progress is checked monthly in the PD review, and actions that miss the target trigger root cause analysis. After one year, inventory drops significantly.
