BTI

Definition

A growth tool that systematically stimulates and sequences breakthrough growth ideas, with best practices in creative management and methods for forming effective creative teams.

In detail

Breakthrough Idea (BTI) is a Danaher growth tool used to systematically generate and rank breakthrough growth ideas, including best practices for idea management and methods for building high-performing idea teams. It addresses the problems of scattered ideas, lack of screening mechanisms, and overlooked growth opportunities. Unlike brainstorming, BTI emphasizes structured processes and quantitative evaluation, with outputs being a ranked list of ideas and executable growth projects.

Example in practice

When a company faces growth bottlenecks and needs to find new business growth points, BTI is used. For example, an industrial products company organizes a cross-departmental workshop, uses BTI methods to collect ideas from sales, R&D, and customers, screens three high-potential directions through a scoring model, and enters the strategic planning process. This ultimately forms a new product line proposal.
