Employee Redeployment

← All terms

Also called: Redeployment · Reassignment after improvement

Definition

Assign the people capacity freed by improvement to other valuable work, and implement training, receiving responsibility, and handover.

In detail

Redeployment is used to convert efficiency gains into enterprise growth and employee development, and can place people into new businesses, other value streams, or Kaizen teams. The personnel policy should be explained before Kaizen, with receiving positions, skills training, and onboarding plans prepared. Redeployment releases capacity and cannot be treated directly as wage expense savings; avoided future headcount additions and already-reduced actual spending should also be recorded separately. It is not equivalent to a permanent employment guarantee under all business conditions. It is two sides of the same principle as "Least Man": Least Man is about who is balanced out of the cell, while this item is about how they are arranged afterward; only when both occur and total headcount does not increase do costs truly decline.

Example in practice

After order entry improvement, one employee has the capacity to move to customer service. The owner confirms the receiving role, training, and handover date in advance, and tracks customer response improvement. The employee's salary is still paid, so this time report the capacity shift first and do not count the full-year salary as realized profit.
