Definition
A hands-on, hands-on, field-training course for team leaders and supervisors.
In detail
Lean Transformation Training (Middle Management) is a practical course for team leaders and supervisors, aimed at developing their ability to manage lean production lines, train teams, and drive continuous improvement. It addresses the issues of insufficient skills among frontline managers and the failure of improvements to take root. Unlike executive training, middle management training focuses more on shop floor management and specific tool application. Its output is trained team leaders who can execute standard work, lead improvement activities, and sustain results.
Example in practice
When a company promotes lean but team leaders lack management skills, middle management training can be conducted. For example, an automotive parts plant organizes team leaders to attend an eight-day boot camp, learning 5S, standard work, kanban pull, and problem-solving. After training, team leaders return to their positions, apply what they learned to establish daily management boards, organize team kaizen week activities, and coach employees. As a result, production line efficiency improves and employee engagement increases.
