OpCo

Definition

General designation of the operators under the Danaher flag.

In detail

An Operating Company (OpCo) is an independently operating business unit within Danaher, each with its own management team and P&L responsibility. OpCo is the basic unit for DBS implementation, responsible for translating group strategy into specific business actions. Unlike the group headquarters, OpCo is closer to the market and customers, enabling flexible application of lean tools. Typical outputs include OpCo-level strategy deployment, improvement plans, and performance metrics.

Example in practice

An OpCo facing declining market share uses DBS methods, organizing a cross-functional team to conduct value stream analysis, identifying excessive lead time as the issue. By implementing standard work and quick changeover, lead time is reduced by 30%, customer satisfaction improves, and market share gradually recovers.
