Definition

The sales organization itself is transformed into a diagnosable, standardized, and measurable system — covering the coverage model and role division, sales process nodes and funnel definitions, capability and incentives — aligning layer by layer with growth targets.

In detail

Sales Force Improvement (SFI) is a methodology for transforming the sales organization as a system that can be diagnosed, standardized, and measured. It covers sales models and role definitions, process stages and funnel metrics, capabilities and incentives, aligning them layer by layer with growth goals. In the system, it addresses the issue of "unstable sales performance and growth relying on heroes." Unlike single-point sales skills training, SFI emphasizes systematic design and continuous improvement. Its outputs typically include sales process documentation, funnel metric definitions, role responsibility matrices, and incentive plans.

Example in practice

An industrial equipment company finds sales performance heavily dependent on a few senior salespeople; new hires are slow to ramp up, and funnel forecasts are inaccurate. The company introduces SFI, first streamlining the sales process, defining stages and exit criteria from lead to cash, then segmenting sales roles by customer type, redesigning training paths and incentive metrics. After implementation, the sales process becomes manageable, management can identify bottlenecks early, new hire ramp-up time shortens, and growth no longer relies only on a few stars.
