Standard Work Combination Sheet

← All terms

Also called: standard work combination chart · standardised work combination sheet

Definition

The sheet that stacks manual time, machine time and walking time of one work cycle on a single time axis and compares them against the takt line; among the five standard work forms it is the one that answers how one person completes one cycle.

In detail

The combination sheet earns its place by putting three kinds of time on the same axis — looking at manual time alone suggests there is room, but adding machine waiting and walking often pushes the cycle past takt. Its division of labour with the loading chart is clear: the combination sheet shows how one person's cycle is arranged, the loading chart shows who among several people is loaded and who is idle. It must be filled from the observed values on the time observation sheet, never from estimates, and the takt line drawn on it marks exactly the segment to be improved. It is a living document: change the work sequence and it must be redrawn, or what is posted is not what is executed.

Example in practice

A station has 32 seconds of manual time, 25 of machine time and 6 of walking; the sheet shows the operator waiting while the machine runs. Moving the unload and load into the machine's running time cuts the cycle from 63 to 40 seconds, inside the 45 second takt line.
