World Class Quality Management

← All terms

Definition

Fully committed to the business methodology of quality and client satisfaction, emphasizing continuous process improvement, fact-based decision-making and full engagement to meet and exceed client expectations.

In detail

World-Class Quality Management is an operating methodology built on organization-wide participation, end-to-end continuous improvement, and fact-based decisions to meet or exceed customer expectations. It addresses dependence on final inspection and recurring defects by embedding quality in daily management. Unlike Six Sigma, which emphasizes statistical methods, WCQM places greater weight on culture and the management system. Typical outputs include quality policies, improvement projects, and standardized processes.

Example in practice

When a factory's scrap rate remains high, WCQM is implemented, establishing a quality KPI board and daily stand-up reviews. Employees receive problem-solving training and proactively identify waste. Through cross-departmental improvement weeks, key quality issues are resolved, and measures are standardized. After several months, the scrap rate decreases and customer satisfaction improves.
