Definition

A "Pedagogical Improvement Week": led by members of the DBSO, with the participation of a number of operators, and with the same period, with several improved public registration activities.

In detail

A Boot Camp is a "teaching-style kaizen event" guided by DBSO members, involving multiple operating companies participating in public registration activities where several improvement activities are conducted concurrently. In the lean promotion system, it addresses the issue of "single-point improvements being difficult to scale" by combining centralized training with hands-on practice, rapidly disseminating lean methods and cultivating improvement talent. Unlike internal kaizen weeks, Boot Camps emphasize cross-company exchange and standardized instruction, typically with a fixed curriculum structure and certification requirements. Typical outputs include completed improvement projects, skills acquired by participants, and replicable improvement case studies.

Example in practice

Multiple factories in a certain group faced long changeover times, but individual improvement progress was slow. The group's DBSO organized a training camp, inviting improvement leaders from various factories. Led by senior facilitators, they conducted on-site improvements on different factories' changeover processes within five days. Each team learned by doing and borrowed ideas from each other. By the end of the camp, every factory had completed a changeover improvement plan and brought back a set of standard work. Follow-up showed that these plans were implemented in their respective factories, and changeover times generally decreased.
