DBS with Compliance & Import/Export (IMEX) Compliance

← All terms

Also called: DBS with Compliance

Definition

The DBS class, which uses the regulatory environment (FDA/QSR and import/export controls), is an independent certification path for IMEX, both on how to improve compliance.

In detail

DBS in a Regulated Environment and Import/Export Compliance Certification (IMEX) is a course family that applies DBS in regulated environments, covering both how to make improvements under compliance constraints and the independent IMEX certification path. It addresses how to balance lean improvement and compliance requirements under strict regulations such as FDA/QSR and import/export controls. Its difference from general DBS courses lies in its emphasis on compliance constraints. Typical outputs include compliance improvement plans and IMEX certification eligibility.

Example in practice

A medical device company needs to implement Lean manufacturing under FDA regulation. They attend a compliance course to learn how to meet regulations in areas such as change control and documentation, while also conducting Kaizen activities. The team learns to do Kaizen under compliance constraints; separately, the company's import/export specialist independently follows the IMEX certification path (online modules 85% + in-person training + leading one internal audit). The two tracks do not substitute for each other.
