Identifying, nurturing and facilitating business opportunities to the regularized process of dealing, helping the marketing team to build a five-stage funnel and accompaniment evaluation rhythm to increase the winning rate.
In detail
Funnel Management (FM) is a standardized process in sales management used to identify, nurture, and advance opportunities toward closure. By establishing a five-stage funnel and corresponding review cadence, it helps sales teams forecast performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve win rates. Unlike value-based selling, FM focuses on the efficiency of the sales process, not individual negotiation tactics. The library also has value-selling's seven-tier Possibility ladder and sales-force's S0–S10 business-unit funnel; these three rulers use different bases and must not be merged or added together. Typical outputs include funnel reports, stage conversion rates, and sales forecasts.
Example in practice
The sales team found that quarterly forecasts were consistently inaccurate, so they introduced funnel management. They divided opportunities by stage and reviewed funnel health weekly, discovering that many opportunities were stalled in the second stage. By strengthening nurturing activities, opportunities progressed smoothly, ultimately improving forecast accuracy and win rates.
