MBS Kaizen Charter, Six Roles and Week Rhythm

← All terms

Also called: MBS Kaizen Charter · Six roles · Charter traps · Three-meeting system · MBS Kaizen Charter

Definition

Organizational details on Kaizen Events from the third-party consulting courseware used in MBS Boot Camp and the MBS SMED textbook: charter preparation worksheet fields, five types of charter pitfalls, item-by-item responsibilities for six roles (team leader / team member / subject matter expert / coach / process owner / senior sponsor), charter review at least two weeks in advance, and three meetings (morning, noon, evening) with division of labor among four sub-teams. Not a DBS standard.

In detail

Relationship with the seven major items: the seven items answer whether to start, this card answers who does what after starting. Five types of pitfalls can be machine pre-screened: whether the goal includes metrics, start/end values and dates, whether the scope states "excluding", whether the review meets the project-approved lead time (case: 14 days). The three-meeting system comes from the injection molding changeover improvement week: 8:00 morning meeting assigns tasks, 13:30 midday meeting corrects deviations, 19:00 evening meeting hands over; times follow shift schedule, not default values.

Example in practice

Charter goal written as "improve efficiency" was rejected; changed to "reduce the die change time of machine D30 from 115 minutes to 42 minutes by 7 month 5 day"; review date was only 5 days before start, system flagged insufficient two weeks and required senior leader sponsor confirmation.
