Energy Boundary Map

← All terms

Definition

Connect energy purchase, conversion, distribution and end use with meters, defining equipment, time and service covered by the analysis.

In detail

An energy map records parent/submeter relationships, units and loads outside the boundary. Readings are comparable only with aligned periods, multipliers and objects. When a parent reading is below the sum of submeters, investigate timing, multipliers and overlap rather than calling the negative difference savings. The map identifies energy destinations and verification owners, supporting state observations, additional metering and baseline comparisons.

Example in practice

A workshop's parent meter reads less than three submeters combined. The team checks dates, multipliers and boundaries and finds that one submeter spans two workshops. It corrects the boundary before discussing savings, rather than inventing a negative loss.
