← All terms

Definition

The executive director of the platform, who brings together direct subordinates and extension teams, is invited to conduct the improvement week at a particular base, which is used by the executive director to bring in and take stock of the daily team meetings.

In detail

President Kaizen Week is a kaizen week hosted by a company or platform president at a specific site, inviting direct reports and extended team members to participate. The president uses this to mentor and coach, and to solidify daily team meetings. It addresses the problem of disconnect between senior leadership and gemba improvement. Unlike regular kaizen weeks, it emphasizes direct senior participation and demonstration. Typical outputs include improvement results, team capability enhancement, leadership demonstration, and institutionalization of daily meeting mechanisms.

Example in practice

The president of a certain group selects a factory each quarter for a presidential improvement week, personally leading management and frontline teams to solve a bottleneck problem. During the week, the president chairs daily team meetings and guides the use of lean tools. After one week, the problem is solved, and the factory's daily meeting system is sustained, with noticeable improvement in management leadership.
