ABS

DBS Curriculum & Tool Selection by Function

Official document mapping DBS courses to specific roles—14 functions, 36 roles, 164 rows, course names in recommended study order, each course with a teaching qualification (Master Black Belt 128 rows / Certified Instructor 34 rows / Not required 2 rows).

ABS

DBS Immersion Requirements

Fifteen role-specific onboarding checklists; 151 actions compressed into five time gates: Week 1/30/90/180/270; Common Minimum Set has four items, Quasi-Common has one (production frontline does not learn root cause), management roles have five additional; has gates, no criteria, no overdue consequences.

DBSL-BC

DBS Leader Boot Camp

Five days of intensive fieldwork for new DBS leaders, hand-on benefit conversion, standard operations and 5S at workshops.

ABS

DBS Orientation

Introduction training and deployment courses for organizations to import the DBS system.

DBS

DBS Overview (Global Lean Benchmark)

Danaher Business System: a management system that starts from the voice of the customer and uses full participation to continuously improve quality, delivery, and cost in pursuit of world-class excellence (the 2020 glossary lists three dimensions; the official DBS Introduction adds a fourth — innovation).

ABS

DBS Process Owner

Responsible for the evolution, advocacy and governance of an entry in the DBS toolbox (tools/best practices/courses/virtual learning).

ABS

DBSL Continuing Education Workshop

The paragraph after certification – which of these is the one that determines whether a trained and certified DBS leader needs to do it again now; it consists of annual workshops, single-point classes per month, and three different channels for the required lessons, measuring whether the calculator has been maintained after three months of events that he has guided. The corresponding module has no package material, and the tool card is a re-building element. The monthly telephone conference hosted by the alias “One-point course” is not the same as the single-point course (OPL) in the TPM context.

DoD

Definition of Done

Clear criteria for determining the real "finished" of the task in the agile development.

ABS

Demand Time Fence

Firm: All materials, production and production capacity are fixed, closest to the current period.

DFMEA

Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

A branch of FMEA that identifies potential failure modes, effects, and causes during the product design phase, and evaluates risk using severity, occurrence, and detection to drive design preventive actions.

DFMA

Design for Manufacturing and Assembly

A design approach that proactively reduces the number of parts, simplifies assembly orientation and connection methods during the product design phase, making the product easier, safer, and less costly to manufacture and assemble.

DFR

Design for Reliability

Processes that extend from the project definition phase to product de-marketing, and that incorporate reliability design into products to meet client expectations and minimize full life-cycle costs.

D

Detection

The FMEA score for whether the controls in place can catch a failure before it reaches the next step; a higher score means it is harder to catch.

ABS

Distribution (Statistics)

The frequency pattern of each value in a set of data (center, spread, shape), such as Normal Distribution and Poisson distribution.

ABS

Double/Half Rule

The goal-setting starting point is instructive: good things double and bad things halve; the original states that it is only the starting point, not the goal itself.

DOI

Drop-Off Interval (DOI)

The frequency at which a single product or service is completed at the end of a process, i.e., the interval between two finished units coming out one after the other; it is a field in the value stream data box, not inventory days; the official English instructor guide writes it as Drop Off Rate (D/R).

DK

Dynamic Kanban

The viewboard management method is adjusted to the dynamic changes in demand.

E-Kanban

E-Kanban

The refilling signal for the watchboard, supplier confirmation and capacity recalculation, is a set of capabilities implemented on the system; it is not a viewing solution, but an enhancement of the viewboard, and the uplink is based on the fact that the viewboard system is already in place at the site and the board discipline is displayed.

ABS

ECASY

A design-simplification process within Speed Design Review (SDR) that reduces part count: eliminate, combine, alternative methods, change assembly sequence, simplify.

EVA

Economic Value Added

The indicator of residual earnings, net operating profits after taxes minus capital costs, is the measure of financial performance most closely linked to shareholder values.

ABS

Ecosystem

A picture of how clients create value for their clients, similar to a "client does one thing" stream, is constructed from a critical picture perspective.

ABS

Eight Wastes

Eight common types of waste (Muda) — defects, overproduction, waiting, unused creativity, transportation, inventory, motion, and over-processing (the mnemonic is DOWNTIME); the source material calls this "also known as Muda," but this glossary does not adopt that phrasing, because waste is the umbrella concept in lean analysis and is not the same as this eight-item checklist (see the "Waste" entry).

ABS

Employee Redeployment

Assign the people capacity freed by improvement to other valuable work, and implement training, receiving responsibility, and handover.

ABS

Employee Retention Rate

The proportion of target employees who remain in the organization during a given period out of the initial or comparable employee group, used to observe the organization's ability to retain key talent; the higher the value, the better.

ABS

Energy Boundary Map

Connect energy purchase, conversion, distribution and end use with meters, defining equipment, time and service covered by the analysis.

ABS

Energy Meter Dictionary

Data dictionary recording measurement point identity, physical coverage, measured quantity, unit, multiplier, sampling and revision rules.

ABS

Error Proofing / Poka-Yoke

A complete set of verdict and device methods designed to make errors impossible or to ensure errors are detected before they become defects; the core proposition is that errors are inevitable but defects are avoidable. Devices have three capability levels (prevent occurrence / detect the error / detect the defect); the verdict prioritizes the level first, and only then whether the seven steps were completed.

ECO

Executive Champion Orientation

The DBS Advanced Overview Course for New Seniors, covering Danaher culture, value flow mapping and strategic deployment, is an important part of the HLCM integration plan.

FEMS

Factory Energy Management System

A factory energy management information system integrating energy metering, data governance, energy consumption analysis, and anomaly handling.

FMEA

Failure Mode Effects Analysis

(c) To assess the potential severity of the failure and identify sources of the failure, and then to implement a structured approach to remedy to prevent it.

ABS

Fake Flow

The units were actually in bulk operation; the materials were given eight self-checks, including "unit width > 5 feet " .

ABS

Financial Acumen

Financial reading skills for those responsible for loss and loss: translating field actions into profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statement drop points and identifying the impact of basis and combination on profitability. The measurement layer and ROIC caliber are cvd, accounting claims are jit-accunding, and this article only deals with "where those who read the watch are being cheated".

FIFO

First In First Out

A capacity-limited lane that guarantees whatever entered first is handled first and forbids adding more once it is full; it is both a queue rule and a way to connect two operations without a supermarket.

FPY

First Pass Yield

The proportion of products that pass through the process without defects at one time; the caliber is the ratio of good practices per process, not the rate of the lowest process (the error of the pedagogic naming).

ABS

Five Whys (5 Whys)

A simple problem-analysis method that asks "why" five times in a row to close in on the root cause. Limitations: time-consuming, results are not reproducible across teams, does not guarantee finding the true cause, and the outcome depends on the quality of the questions asked.

ABS

Flexibility Matrix

In the project charter, cost, time, and performance are each ranked as "least flexible / middle / most flexible" (the card and rule pack uniformly call this the flexibility matrix); ties are not allowed—a tie means no ranking.

ABS

Flow

The ability to allow products or processes to move in the shortest possible delivery cycle, in a high quality and in the most economical manner.

ABS

Flow (Preset Flow)

A sequence of several tools arranged in order, with each step explaining "why this step is here"; the product presets dozens of them (the source of truth is knowledge/flows.yaml), and you can also assemble your own on the canvas.

ABS

Flow Chart

The problem-solving tool for the diagram of processes compares "status" with "due" processes and makes waste visible.

ABS

Flow Production

The idea of rejecting bulk processing: products move between processes in a minimum increment (extremely single), with back-track pulls as needed, and only qualified goods can flow into the next process.

ABS

Focus Mode

When entering a tool page from a process or project page, only the current tool is displayed; other tools on the same page are collapsed, with a path back provided.
